Elena Sword (they/she) is a singer, songwriter, producer, composer, and experimental electronic musician.

Experimental-Pop

At the core of their work are songs that fall somewhere under the category of “pop” in the broadest sense. Elena began by writing, singing, recording, producing, and mixing everything herself, but is now excited to collaborate with other producers and mixers. She loves arranging her eclectic productions for live shows with instruments ranging from the usual pop suspects (ie guitar, drums, keys) to cello, trombone, and amplified electric kettle.

Composition & Stage Direction

Elena also writes, stages, and light-designs song-like compositions that devolve into coven-esque rituals, creates interactive, electronic textile-installation-instruments that can be played by performers and audience alike, and contributes to film soundtracks.

Voice

They studied opera singing for many years, and still loves to perform works by lesser-known, marginalized composers. They have extensive experience in opera, musical theater, popular music, and experimental improvisation, and often work as a session vocalist and voice teacher.

Education

Elena holds a BA in Music, Science, and Technology (instrument: voice) from Stanford University, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Composition and Creative Practice at the Hochschule der Künste Bern in Switzerland. Originally from Bloomington, Indiana, she is currently based between Berlin and Bern.
